It is important to put ideas into some sort of a system, whether it be a chart or to-do list. Organising your life will make things easier for you and help you achieve what you want.
The first step in the organisation is setting a goal and a timeline for achieving it. Then come up with the steps that are going to make you go through those milestones, a dream house, self-development courses, or whatever. This is where you are starting to see your plan begin to take shape.
For example, you might start by setting a timeline for yourself, such as going from being a nobody to somebody that others admire and respect. Another example would be you deciding what you would like to achieve at a particular point in time. Another option might be writing out your goals for the whole of your life. These are just some examples of starting with a goal and moving forward towards it.
Each step should be set into small steps. As each goal gets closer to completion, you should get more detail about how you can do this, be it a home improvement course, self-development course, a new diet, or any other goal you can think of. This way when you have reached the milestone, you know exactly how you are going to proceed.
The next part of planning is to lay out the plan of action. This could involve starting from scratch or choosing a new direction for your life. For example, if you decide to get into your own home improvements, choose a specific direction you want to go in such as fixing up an old property, or even starting a new business. This will give you a direction in which to go and also give you the motivation to go after your goal.
Now that you have your plan laid out, the next step is to create a schedule for when you will accomplish each goal. If you are starting from scratch, choose a specific date to start and try to stick to it, no matter what. Write it down and keep it somewhere you can refer to it as a daily reminder.
Every month or so you should write down everything that has been accomplished by using the planner. This is a great tool for tracking progress.
Next, take a look at how you are feeling and see if you are staying motivated. Some people need more help than others. Be honest with yourself and see what motivates you the most.
Your goal for the month should be something you are excited about. A new diet, a new career, or learning a new language will all be good goals to work on. Your mood for the day should dictate how you perform and sometimes this can be a great way to motivate yourself to do your best.
You might be able to get a job with a new friend of a friend, a big company or even your own company. If you have some downtime while your friends are having fun, this is a great opportunity to use your imagination and see what you can do.
Remember that a plan does not necessarily mean that you have to stick to it. Changing your mind once it is established is a common thing and you can have a good time changing your plans if necessary.
